Pate Dugay Furniture Wax (French furniture wax):
Pate Dugay furniture wax polish is a mild furniture restoration wax that will revive the patina of antique furniture without harming the wood finish. Pate Dugay Wax is a French furniture wax that is considered by many European and American craftsmen to be the ideal furniture paste wax for antique furniture. Because of the unique furniture restoration qualities, ease of wax application and perfect wood tones offered, Pate Dugay furniture wax has become a standard item in antique restoration shops around the world. This Pate Dugay furniture wax will produce a semi-gloss wax finish. To obtain a higher wax sheen on furniture faster, we recommend Pate Dugay Super Patine furniture paste wax.

How To Apply Pate Dugay Wax:
Pate Dugay Furniture Wax can be applied with a soft cloth, extra fine steel wool or natural fiber brush. Using a brush is particularly helpful when applying Pate Dugay to furniture moldings, carvings or any wood details. If necessary, clean and/or revive the wood finish prior to waxing. Apply Pate Dugay evenly and allow wax to dry for at least 1 hour. Once that the wax has dried, buff the wood surface using a soft cotton cloth and/or a wax polishing brush. If the wood surface is flat, a soft cotton cloth will suffice. However, if the surface has more of an open grain or texture, it may be helpful to use a terry cloth rag, as this will help polish indentations, cracks and crevices. We recommend applying two coats of wax. Additional coats of Pate Dugay should be applied as needed.

Furniture Wax and Caring for Wood Furniture:
For centuries, wax has been recognized for its natural protective qualities. Used throughout history by craftsmen, wax provides surface protection and enhances the inherent beauty of wood. Furniture wax should never be considered a protective finish, but rather as a protective barrier, providing added wax protection to a finish or substrate from such things as moisture, dust and airborne pollutants. We have all seen water bead up on the hood of a car. Wax on furniture does the same thing. However, if water is left to stand on a waxed surface, it will eventually penetrate the wax and possibly affect the finish and wood. Remember, wax is not a protective finish but a barrier coat that will allow you a little more time to clean up a spill. Wax also provides scratch resistance and protection from dust, in that it creates a barrier between the finish and the dust cloth. As you dust, the cloth is charged with dust particles, which can scratch and dull the finish. This will eventually obscure the natural beauty of the wood. Furniture wax provides protection but also adds depth to wood and imparts an overall healthier look to furniture as well as adding scent to a room. Wax is a very stable material and if properly maintained, will protect a finish indefinitely.
