Teak Oil  ( Discontinued, please consider All-Natural Teak Maintenance Oil below ):

Liberon Teak Oil is a blended linseed oil and pure tung oil finish. It is formulated for interior or exterior use with added UV filters to protect against fading from sunlight. Liberon Teak Oil nourishes and enhances the natural beauty of hard and exotic woods, including Teak and Iroko. With Liberon Teak Oil you will be able to produce a traditional cabinet makers finish on hard wood. Liberon Teak Oil produces a hard wearing satin finish.

Preparation:

Teak Oil is easy to apply but it is very important to insure that the wood surface is bare: remove furniture polish and wax with Wax & Polish Remover. Clean, dry and ensure the surface is dust free.

Application of Liberon Teak Oil:

Apply Liberon Teak Oil either by brush or using a lint-free cotton cloth. Leave the teak oil to penetrate for up to 15 minutes, then wipe off the excess with a clean lint-free cloth. Failure to remove the excess teak oil will prevent penetration of future coats and leave a sticky surface. Apply additional coats of Liberon Teak Oil as above, the number of coats required will depend on how dry or damaged the wood is. When applying teak oil always leave a 24 hour interval between coats and allow the last coat of oil to fully harden before use. We recommend a minimum of 3 coats on internal and external timbers. For best results, gently rub with No. 5 Extra Fine Steel Wool or extra fine abrasive paper between coats. Use the abrasive paper when working on outdoor furniture.

Important:

Teak Oil Finishes bring out the natural colors of wood. A wet wood surface will be an indication of the final color. Always test the teak oil on a spare wood surface or inconspicuous area for color, compatibility and end result.

Cleaning and Maintaining Teak Oil:

A teak oil surface may be cleaned using a damp cloth and spills should be wiped up immediately. For stubborn stains a mild detergent can be used. Oiled surfaces need to be re-oiled once a year or more, depending upon usage. Oiled exterior timber will need regular maintenance. Apply Liberon Teak Oil once or twice a year (or as necessary) to maintain protection.
