Liberon Boiled Linseed Oil ( wood oil ):
Liberon Boiled Linseed Oil is used to give a mellow, patinated wood finish to new or stripped bare wood. Liberon Boiled Linseed Oil is a superior quality wood oil, similar to raw linseed oil, but having had hot air passed through to improve drying times, it is suitable for use on all types of wood, except exterior oak. It is also recommended as a sealer for terracotta tiles and other porous surfaces before waxing.
Preparation:
Ensure that the surface to be treated is clean and dry. Any previous finish must be thoroughly removed before using Liberon Boiled Linseed Oil.
Application of Liberon Boiled Linseed Oil:
For ease of application dilute the first few coats with pure turpentine (up to 30%). Rub the linseed oil well into the wood using a lint free cotton cloth. After about 20 minutes, wipe off the excess linseed oil with a clean lint-free cloth. Failure to do so will prevent penetration of future coats and leave a sticky surface. Repeat the previous steps once or twice at 24 hour intervals. Apply a final coat of Liberon Boiled Linseed Oil, again wiping off any excess. Allow this final coat of linseed oil to harden for a few days before use. A light rubbing in between coats with extra fine steel wool will improve results. If the surface becomes damaged, apply a new coat.
Important:
Liberon Linseed Oil finish will bring out the natural colours of wood. A wet surface will be an indication of the final color. Always test Liberon Boiled Linseed on a spare surface or inconspicuous area for color, compatibility and end result.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
Linseed oil surfaces should be wiped with a damp cloth and buff dry. Re-apply linseed oil as and when required depending upon usage.
